Divinee Chidume

Software Engineer

My name is Divinee Chidume and I am a software engineer on the Bing Location Understanding team at Microsoft. I joined the team because I wanted to get the opportunity to see the application of data driven analytics in industry. As a member of the BLU team I use data and machine learning modules and tools to help provide accurate location recommendations for our users and business partners. I'm currently the only person on my team the doesn't have a masters or a PHD so I feel blessed being able to learn for experts in the industry. Outside of my day-to-day tasks I am extremely interested in entrepreneurship, most specifically data driven business models. I hope to someday get my masters in computers science so that I can specialize in the creation and application of predictive models. I would eventually like to delve further into entrepreneurship as a tech founder or an early team member in a tech startup focused on providing innovative data driven solutions to industry problems.

Fun Fact: During my team in undergrad I would always alternate eating a kimchi garden and steve's korean barbecue. I would often get special treats from kimchi garden just due to being such a regular customer.

Chiamaka Onwuli

Sophomore

Intended Public Health or Molecular Cell Biology (MCB)

My name is Chiamaka Onwuli. I grew up in Elk Grove, CA (city nearby Sacramento). As far as my career interests go, I know I want to become a physician, but I'm not sure what field I will specialize in (I'm thinking of surgery, family medicine, or pediatrics). Part of the reason I am pursuing a career as a physician is to become a part of the Black representation I long to see more of in medicine, as well as to advocate for health equity on behalf of Black and BIPOC individuals. I am big on mental health and preservation of our personal energies. Recently, I joined the ASUC office of AAVP, where I sit in on the CAC on Mental Health. I hope to someday work with marginalized groups where I will become an advocate for better management of mental health, hopefully someday abolishing the stigma that still persists within those groups today.
